Paediatric Speech Pathologist - Inner West and/or Eastern Suburbs

About the Role

  • Build a caseload with the flexibility to work days and times that you want!

  • A fully mobile service – you will be providing assessment and therapy at schools, homes, preschools and day-care centres

  • Clinic-based services commencing in early 2020

  • Current caseload will be a generalist paediatric caseload with the opportunity to develop into an area of your interest

  • Above award rates

     

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and intervention for toddlers, pre-schoolers and school-aged children with speech, language, literacy, fluency, and pragmatic difficulties

  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, school support staff, occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals

  • Prepare a wide variety of written materials, including reports and letters, which comply with the practice's policies and procedures for record keeping, for the purpose of documenting activities and conveying clinical information to families and other professionals

  • Comply with legal and ethical requirements, professional requirements, evidence-based practice and all policies and procedures of both the practice and Speech Pathology Australia

  • Participate in community and business development activities
     

 

Essential Criteria

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification

  • Current Working With Children Check

  • Eligibility for current practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia

  • Eligibility for Medicare Provider Status

  • Professional Indemnity Insurance

  • Current NSW Driver Licence and use of own car

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated high-level of organisational and time-management skills and a high level of attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, but also work as part of a team

  • Proven commitment to continuing professional development activities and evidence-based practice

  • Ability to build rapport with clients, families and teachers

  • Experience supporting children with speech sound difficulties, language difficulties and literacy difficulties

  • Experience completing standardised and informal assessments

 

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional training in your area of interest (eg Spalding, Sounds Write, Hanen, PROMPT etc)

  • Interest in developing and running group programs
