Frequently asked questions

How much does is cost?

Flying with Phonics is $245 total for 3 x 1 hour sessions (total 3 hours). Little Language Lions is $245 total for 3 x 1 hour sessions (total 3 hours).

Where is the group held?

Our groups are run in our clinic, located in The Cannery, Rosebery! We are in the beautiful, heritage listed building, upstairs next to the GP and across from HIIT Pilates!

How do I pay to secure my child's spot?

All group sessions are paid for in advance. Our admin team will provide you details on how to pay to secure your spot.

Do parents need to stay for the group?

No. Parents are welcome to stay for the first few minutes of the session, however we generally find that children are more involved in group activities when parents are not present. There are many cafes and shops in and around The Cannery building that we encourage parents to visit while they wait.

What qualifications do the staff have?

The groups are run by at least one Speech Pathologist. All of the speech pathologists at Curious Kids are Certified Practising Speech Pathologists and are registered with Speech Pathology Australia. We also regularly pursue continuing education and postgraduate training in various evidence-based treatment programs. Groups usually have an Allied Health Assistant helping out. Our AHAs are speech pathology students.

Does my child need a referral to attend the group?

No! You do not need a referral to see a speech pathologist.

Does my child need to bring anything?

No! We provide everything that is needed. They can bring a water bottle if they like.

Does attending this group replace one-on-one sessions?

No. Groups are not a replacement, but rather a supplementation of individual sessions. These groups are designed to provide a boost for children in the areas of literacy (Flying with Phonics) and language (Little Language Lions). Individual sessions are more intensive, personalised and tailored to each student.

What happens if my child misses a session?

Missing a session will not impact the other sessions of the group. If possible, the speech pathologist running the group will provide some information on what was covered in the missed session. Unfortunately we cannot provide a refund if your child misses a group session.

Telehealth Sessions

We can support your child via video therapy!

During this time of uncertainty and social isolation, we can provide support for your child's

speech, language and literacy via video sessions.

This is an evidence-based method for providing therapy and it means

your child can continue to progress and learn even when everything else might be out of routine

or when you can't access your usual resources!

We are happy to chat further about this so give us a call if you have any questions or

if you'd like to book an appointment.
